My mom recently held this little girl (below) in her arms who could be my new sister. The little girl's father just died and her mother is on drugs. Help us bring her home for the holidays. View the story below or on our fundraising site HopeMob by clicking this link.

My mom's story is below.

Hello, my name is Charlotte Roberts and I have been married to my husband, Hugh Roberts III, for 30 years. We have three wonderful children, Hugh, Aaron, and Candice. I’ve always loved children and felt like they were a true blessing from God and an added joy to your home. Our kids are getting older and we constantly tease saying, “we’ve got to get some more kids.”

About a year ago, I became seriously praying and the Lord began asking me if I would give up my freedom for a child. Mentally I started going through the things I would have to sacrifice and realized that those things were all temporal but to raise a child in a loving, Christian home could have eternal significance. I told the Lord that He would have to bring this child into our lives and it couldn’t be of our own doing.

Last Tuesday, as we were filling out the paper work for Candice to buy a new car, I jokingly said, “I wish it was this easy to get kids.”

The man behind the desk with raised eyebrows said, “Are you serious?”

Wondering if he might think that I was trying to buy kids on the black market, so I began to explain how we needed more kids to brighten up our home and the desire the Lord placed in my heart. Then he said, “The reason why I ask, is because I know a man who is trying to find a good home for a little baby girl whose daddy has passed away and whose mom is abusing drugs.”

We gave him our phone number and asked him to pass it along, thinking we might hear from him in a few days, if ever-with it being such a casual conversation. As we went outside to pick up our daughter’s car, a man who worked at the car dealership approached us and said “I am the man with legal custody to the little girl and we have been praying that the Lord would bring the right people by to adopt her.”

Today, our family went to meet the sweet, precious, beautiful little one-year-old baby girl.  She stole all of our hearts. The Lord had actually asked me if I was willing to give up my freedom to raise another child, around the same time that she had been born.

The current legal guardians and us would like for her to be with us (her soon-to-be forever family) for Christmas and the holiday season. The current legal guardians said that the legal fees to allow us to bring this bundle of joy into our home forever would be $7,100.

The deadline for is Monday, December 23rd.
