If you haven't read part one, from my mother Charlotte, you can read it here. This is a second part that I asked my dad to write from his perspective. We are currently fundraising for the legal fees to adopt a baby girl into our family. The baby's father is dead and the mother is addicted to drugs. We're trying to bring her into our family in time for Christmas. Help us by donating on our fundraiser.

I think that my children are a blessing from God and the character that each one of them possess is a direct result of Gods blessing and direction on each of their lives. Children are an inheritance from God and parents have the most impact on their lives. Charlotte and I are so proud of each of our children, the way that they seek God and all that He has for each one of them.
I have just finished reading the book "That's My Girl: How a Fathers love empowers and protects his daughter" by Rick Johnson. While reading God was showing me how I could have done things differently with each of my children. As I was reading I kept wondering why God wanted me to read this book, I have already finished raising my children. Hugh is 26, Aaron is almost 22, and Candice is almost 19. I read and God kept revealing new things to me. I have numerous friends that have young girls and I thought I need to get them this book so that they can empower their daughters, so I bought 10 copies, because fathers shape a young girls life in so many ways. Fathers influence the view that girls have about God and the future relationships that they will have with boys and men. Our actions tell them how husbands treat wives.
God has always placed a passion in my heart for teenagers. I have worked with them for over half of my life. I have always felt that this generation of young people will change the world and God has place several 18-26 year olds in my life that have a desire to make a difference in the world. Their love and desire to please God is so encouraging. I have always told Charlotte I would like to raise another teenage, to give them a new chance, to show them what a loving family is, of course Charlotte has always wanted a young child and I had always said, "No, I want someone older." About 8 months ago a couple of former students came to our church with their 2 boys and new born daughter, Ami, and the joy and happiness that this young girl exhibits softened my heart.
A few days ago we went to see a family that had become legal guardians for a eleven month old girl. When we walked in she had a smile on her face, the prettiest brown curls, and after talking with the "mom" and seeing where her family is, we feel like God wants us to proceed with adopting this child. Are we crazy? Probably. Will it be hard? Yes. Will it change our lives? Definitely. Is it scary? Yes.
But with Gods help, your prayers and support, we can make a difference in this girls life. Psalms 127.
If you would like to donate, we are in need of $6559 more dollars to proceed with the adoption. Help us get this little girl home by Christmas and her first birthday by donating here.
