You know the best part of the movie? The most memorable song? Well I heard it a little differently this time. As I watched, I was Princess Jasmine and the Lord was my Aladdin. Told you this was a stretch…just read it. (Aladdin’s words, Jasmine’s words, together).
I can show you the world. Shining, shimmering, splendid
Tell me princess, now when did you last let your heart decide?
I can open your eyes, take you wonder by wonder
Over sideways and under on a magic carpet ride
A whole new world, a new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us no or where to go or say we’re only dreaming
A whole new world, a dazzling place I never knew
But when I’m way up here it’s crystal clear
That now I’m in a whole new world with you
Unbelievable sights, indescribable feeling
Soaring, tumbling and wheeling through an endless diamond sky
A whole new world, don’t you dare close your eyes,
A hundred thousand things to see, hold your breath it gets better
I’m like a shooting star; I’ve come so far I can’t go back to where I used to be
A whole new world,every turn a surprise
With new horizons to pursue, every moment gets better
I’ll chase them anywhere, there’s time to spare
Let me share this whole new world with you
A whole new world, that’s where we’ll be
A thrilling chase, a wondrous place for you and me.
Ok, I get it, it’s a bit weird to compare a cartoon with Jesus, but look at the song. He has so much to offer, so many exciting thrills and new sights. The biggest thing I see that's up for grabs is freedom. There’s a fresh view of life, the world and a freedom to go after what’s on your heart. Jasmine keeps saying how each moment gets better than the one before. I love this part: “I’m like a shooting star, I’ve come so far I can’t go back to where I used to be.” And the best thing – the adventure is something that’s done together. “A thrilling chase, a wondrous place for you and me.”

I’m so thankful that the Lord has an adventure planned for my life, but I’m more thankful that he is the adventure. He’s with me the whole way. I can’t wait for this divine romance to continue as I understand my worth in him.
It’s time to close this up, but I just couldn’t resist one more song reference. I just listened to Dave Barnes’ “Crazyboutya”. Here’s the part that I appreciate most:
All those girls in the papers and the movies,

and the covers of those dirty magazines,

They got nothing on your beauty pretty baby,

‘cause you’re everything that they wish they could be.

Thanks for the reminder, Dave… Beauty comes from within and the beautiful Son of God is within me. He is all I need.
