Welcome to the World Race Relief Squad!
This page contains important information about what happens next. This would be a good document for you to save or print as a checklist.

Congratulations! After much prayer and consideration, we believe that God has confirmed that you are called to this trip! Due to the quick development of this program in response to the emergency in Haiti, the information contained here on your Team Blog is the most current. Information here may be different from what you read on your Profile page as that information is for a typical 11-month trip. The following information will walk you through the process of preparing for this trip.

FIRST – You need to accept your acceptance! Whether you have already spent extended periods of time in prayer and know that this is what God has for you, or have applied first and are now ready to spend some serious prayer time, we want you to know from God that this is His plan for you. When you are confident of this fact, it’s time make a financial commitment and make an initial donation of $150 to confirm your spot on this trip. You can make this donation online by clicking Online Donations.

SECOND – You need to begin the process of support raising. Begin by writing your support letter and uploading that to your profile on the documents page. Be sure to print out your support cards and include it with your letter when you send it out. When you mail out your support letters please enter the date you mailed them on your profile. We know that support raising can be a daunting task, but we are here to help you. Please don’t hesitate to call us! After these two steps are completed, your place on the trip is secured! Congratulations!

THIRD – You need to begin providing all of the information necessary for getting you out on the field. In addition to your Application, you now have two new tabs – Mobilization and Support. These tabs are filled with information we want to give you and information we need you to give us.

    • Documents – Here you will find four sections of information we need from you. You can upload these in any form, such as scanned PDF or a photo. First is your passport. We only need the pages that have your picture, number, and expiration. Next is your International Insurance. This is not your current insurance, but the insurance you will purchase to cover you overseas. You can find more information under the Medical section here on your Team Blog. Next is medical conditions. If you have any conditions or medication, please enter that information in the text box provided. Last is your support letter section which we discussed above.
    • Travel – Here on your Team Blog under the Travel section we will announce details about your Launch. After that information is posted, we would like for you to tell us your plans to arrive. You’ll see a section on your Profile to enter flight or driving information. Please do not arrange your travel plans until we have announced dates, times, and locations here.
    • Preparation – This section of your Team Blog is all of the information we want to share with you. You’ll find quite a few documents with quite a bit of information. Some of the information will be very helpful as you begin the process of getting ready. Other information may not be useful until much later in the process. It will be a good idea to skim through all of the information, so if a question arises, you will know where to find the answer.
    • Support – This tab on your profile will be an often visited location for you as you get ready. The Account Balance section is an overview of the donations we’ve received on your behalf. Here is where you can keep track of how you’re doing and who is giving toward your participation. Here on your Team Blog, the Support Raising section is full of tips, advice, and policies about support raising. Specifically, check out the Support Raising Agreement which explains your support raising deadlines. Your deadlines are:
      • $150 Initial Donation – 2 Weeks after you’re accepted
      • 50% – 2 months before the trip
      • 75% – 1 Month before the trip
      • 100% – 1 Week before the trip

    • Team Blog – Not only is your team blog a place where we give you information, this is a place where you can begin getting to know your squad-mates. You will be a contributor to this blog site after you secure your spot on the trip and can introduce yourself to your teammates.
    • Personal Blog – If you’ve spent much time on the website, you’ve probably seen and read quite a few of the blogs that current racers are writing. After your spot on the trip is secured, we will create your personal blog and you should receive an email with login information. If you are married and would like a joint blog, please contact us immediately so that we can set it up. Before you begin blogging, please read through the information on Blogging content in the Preparation Section of this blog for a few tips and assignments.
    • Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, and anything else – We love social networking! Chances are that you and your squad-mates will create groups, causes, and other ways to network together. Feel free to create and join as much as you want. We do ask two very important things within this, however:
      • Disable Donations – It’s a great thing to use social networking to raise support for causes. However, when people donate via Facebook, the organization that handles those donations charges a large fee, meaning you do not receive all the money that was given. Also, they only send out donations once a quarter and never include who they donation was given toward. Instead, include links to your personal blog for people to give that way.
      • Business during Business – Like I said… we love social networking! We’d love to be your friend and join your cause and all those fun things… However, we may or may not regularly log on. So if you have important things for us, please contact us over email or phone. We would hate to miss a question because it came through a social networking tool.

We are so excited for the journey that lies ahead of you. Know that we, as a staff, have all been there. We are alumni from the World Race ourselves. We know the excitement you are feeling now and the nerves as well. As you go through this process, we are here for you each step. Please don’t hesitate to ever email or call. We’d love to help.

Congratulations again and may God bless each step of faith as you walk out this journey.
