water
Today I recognized one of God’s greatest
creations in a way I’ve not yet seen as deeply as this. Water.
Sometimes we overlook the little marvels
He places in our daily lives and for me water is huge. Think of all the many
presentations water has in the world. Snow, rain, ice, fog, clouds, and the
list goes on. And I personally think water in its natural state is the best and
most interesting. It can change shape, be still, fast in running streams or
rivers, or raging and demanding in the ocean. It can be dirty, clean, salty,
blue, green. It covers ¾ of the earth. How much do we use or see water
everyday? Brushing our teeth, bathing, swimming pools, cooking, and drinking.
Water sustains us, but if neglected can kill us.
My focus today was a fast moving
river leading to the largest waterfall I might ever walk behind. I hope it
isn’t, but it was quite tall. The rocks in the river forced the water to find a
new route to its destination. I watched the flexibility and mobility it had. It
never stopped. No matter what it kept moving forward.
How often do we pass up opportunities to
admire God’s creative master pieces? Have you watched a sunset lately, stared
at the stars until your necks hurts, watched birds fly into the distance, laid
in the grass, or even gotten your hands dirty from the ground you walk on
everyday? Remember to soak in all sights and feelings from nature because God
is everywhere. His art is Himself. He created the heavens and the earth and in
all things His signature is clearly seen.
Water is not something to overlook any
longer. It’s a blessing we should thank Him for everyday. Can you imagine
waking up everyday at 6:00 a.m. to acquire as much water as possible from the
faucet outside? My team and I can now from our experience in Kenya. Water is
not in abundance here and is not easily wasted. I appreciate it much more now.
Scriptures I like today:
“He
makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me by quiet waters…” -Psalms 23:2
“…Forgetting
what is behind and straining toward what is ahead” – Philippians 3:13
“In
the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless
and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was
over the waters.” – Genesis 1:1-2
if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has
come!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
"He gathers the waters of the sea into jars;
he puts the deep into storehouses." -Psalms 33:7
“He makes me lie down in green
pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.” -Psalms 23:2
-To everyone who reads
this blog I pray you hear God’s words and not mine. Challenge yourself soon to
take time from your day and sit quietly somewhere with beautiful landscapes and
simply enjoy God’s creativity. Just listen for His voice and soak it in.
