MAY NEWSLETTER

    Better late than never…

I want to make this blog short and sweet because I know the next month’s Newsletter will be a book. The next newsletter I send will include training camp (May 22-31 in Gainsville, GA), upcoming fundraisers, videos, and more. So for now I will fill you in on the most important topics.

MY PHYSICAL HEALTH:
I joined a gym in town about a week ago and am working out every other day until I leave. I am focusing on my core and lower back because I know traveling for this long with a huge pack will take it’s toll. I do cardio with each workout for ten minutes but bumping this up soon. I eat as well as I can with most days eating only one meal not so healthy (pizza, burger, high sodium meals, etc.). I’m aiming to gain at least ten pounds the next few months because I know I will lose it and more when I leave.

MY MENTAL HEALTH:

I am in high spirits still. Nothing yet has found it’s way to bring me down. I learned quickly this would be key. I make sure I read many blogs, stay close to my community for support, eat right/workout, and find the good in everything (eliminating the bad and/or the things that get me down). I’m too anxious to leave for this trip and meet my teammates next week.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT:

This is what you really want to know about, right? I began this journey with an estimated $20,000 to cover everything. I am at $5,851 with over $3,000 pledged totaling $8,851!!! Big jump from the last newsletter, huh? God is doing wonders in my life and in others. This trip is blessing everyone that is giving. People are so excited for my trip and proud to be part of it. I’m still not there though so please keep praying and don’t stop giving. I know it will be there so I’m not worried at all but raising over $11,000 in two months will be quite the challenge. I say “Game On.”

MY TEAM:

So here’s the scoop.. I have training in a week and will meet everyone going on the August 2009 trip. I will find out who my team members will be (small group of 5 to 6) and know in more detail about the trip itself and the ministry. I know a lot of you have had questions I couldn’t answer completely, but hopefully by June I will know most everything else. I met two members already and they are awesome. If you haven’t already heard, Nikki Medders and I made a group called RTK: Racing Tuesday Karaoke and have loads of fun writing songs and making videos in correspondence to the World Race (keeping the team and supporters entertained through informative comedy). Definitely keep an eye out for upcoming videos and blogs. Remember when praying for me, include my team because they are all going through the same struggles I am.

Thanks for dropping in and I will talk to you more in about a month! God Bless!
