Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

From the time I could say the word fish, I have fished. I have fished numerous small ponds, rivers, and lakes all my life catching many types and sizes of fish. My favorite is the largemouth bass. They are more challenging than most fresh water fish and require much patience and persistence. I prefer the plastic worm over any lure. The plastic worm can move as if it were real with the slightest twitches and their color must match the season, time of day, and water clarity to be successful. Where as: the spinner bait is a shimmer in the sun with a tiny jig swimming for dear life, the live worm on a hook with a bobber is the greatest boredom of your life, and the rattlers have too many hooks to take out of the fish. Although all are effective, I cannot seem to break away from what I know best. These lures are simply not for me based on prior “no fish catching” experiences.

But now God is sending me on a new fishing trip. One I am not familiar with and am not prepared for. God is asking me to go and fish the world. I must leave all I have behind. I will not have my plastic worms and my favorite rod and reel. This is a brand new exploration I must pack all baits for. The Word is now my bait. The plastic worms are the sugar-coated verses you see everywhere and are the verses I know and use so much. These verses are pure and can really hit the spot when we need them. But this is more than just a quick Bible verse pick-me-up. Now I must dig deeper and find which spinner bait will hook even one fish and which live worm will die for someone’s eternal life. God and I are sailing around the world and catching as many souls as possible until the sun sets. I pray the safe return home and the net will be plentiful.

Below is where God is leading me to cast my net. I will be traveling to 11 countries in 11 months beginning August 2009. The blue tack indicates an unknown destination. We will rely solely on God to lead us where we need to be that month.
