I wanted to write a fun blog about my life here!
So this will talk about all my new normal habits I’ve picked up from Asian culture.
If you wonder why I’m weird when I come home, this is why!
1. Taking my shoes off before entering any building, house, etc.
2. Most food is easier eaten with your hands–some people here even believe if they use utensils, they won’t be fully satisfied!
3. Drinking and eating everything out of a bag; it’s actually quite nice!
4. Walking 15 minutes in 90+ degree heat just to get groceries…
5. No A/C, just some great fans and a cold tile floor!
6. Rice, bread, and noodles–it’s all we eat.
7. Sleeping on the floor.
8. Talking in broken English. You tend to pick it up from the locals.
9. Being famous. People constantly ask us questions or ask us for pictures with them. My favorite question we got is, “Are you lost?”
10. Cold showers. But they turn out to be perfect here because of the heat.
11. Using squatty potties–don’t knock it till you try it!
12. The smells, they are everywhere.
13. Wearing clothes that cover not only my knees, but my shoulders also. It feels immodest to wear anything different now.
14. Not being the religious majority. Which includes prayer calls, head markings, and dress code.
15. Wet. Bathrooms.—I won’t miss that!
