Alright, alright, before you go into making conclusions about the speed at which I found myself swept off my feet…….I DON’T have a ring on my finger…..at least not that kind! ;P haha
But I AM engaged here on the field – just in a different way!
I’m engaged in the sense that my mind is focused and completely present here, and while I’m pushing into pain, working on vulnerability, and walking in greater authority, I’m also learning more and more about how to zero in on WHAT I am engaging with.
….aka, Light vs Darkness…
Here’s some truth talk:
After traversing the globe and living in third world countries off and on for the past three years, the weird, amazing, crazy and sometimes unimaginable supernatural things I have experienced and seen have become somewhat normal now.
- Different spiritual atmospheres.
- Strongholds and oppressions.
- Demon manifestations.
- Physical healings.
- Miraculous provision.
- Seeing the Holy Spirit move in wild and mysterious ways.
Nothing surprises me anymore!
Something the Holy Spirit has been revealing to me recently though, is why do I so often engage with the Enemy and what he is doing?
It can be so easy to walk down a red light district or into a new room at a hostel and start binding down spirits, praying against darkness and commanding evil spirits and oppression to leave (which isn’t BAD by any means and of course effective because they have to submit when we speak in the name of Jesus).
BUT….
…what does it look like to instead engage with the Kingdom of LIGHT?
What does it look like to instead, walk into a situation or atmosphere and while acknowledging the darkness, shift our focus to say, “Father what is YOUR heart for this place…this person? What are YOU doing here and how do YOU want me to pray into this?”
It’s a simple mind shift but for me, it has completely shifted my entire demeanor and heart posture in how I engage with God in bringing His Kingdom.
I’ve realized more and more how Satan WANTS attention. He wants to put on a show, keep us distracted – focused on him.
But the show’s over now.
When we walk in greater measures of authority and the anointing He has already given us, we don’t have to engage with and fight a battle because it’s already been won! Instead we enter into a space being filled with His presence, knowing that the very authority and anointing we walk in causes darkness to flee.
Now wherever I go, instead of focusing on the evil present and what to do about it, I shift my attention to speaking the Life and Truth and LOVE that He is bringing, for every good and perfect gift coming down from Him, the Father of Heavenly Lights!
Now I focus on praising His name, celebrating His power, receiving His goodness, pouring out more of His heart.
Meanwhile……the kingdom of darkness gets kicked to the curb and Satan loses his air time.
I saw this short clip from Steven Furtick the other day and I thought it was another good way of expressing this concept of shifting focus and engaging with God.
There are some things that we have been turning our attention to that if we would turn our attention from them, we would take the power of them!! Attention creates access.
Father, may YOU be the only one who has access to every part of me!!!!
So the question is not necessarily are you engaged, but WHO are you engaging with?!?!
