The best things in life are unexpected – because there were no expectations!

So many times, I find myself unhappy, disappointed, shocked, frustrated or stressed all because of one simple, yet profoundly impactful concept…expectations!!
I have come to realize, life is much more fun living without them!
Once I finally toss out all the thoughts rolling around in my head about how I think life should play out, my heart becomes clear to simply say ‘Ok Lord, Your will be done, not mine‘!
How do you live a life free of expectations? For me, the best way is to lay them at the throne of His grace and then be still before the Almighty. Surrendering my opinions and expectations to God not only clears the clutter out of my mind, but allows me to be still before Him and see how He is working in my life, my circumstances, the people surrounding me…all the places I am blinded in when my own expectations overrule.
As I think about God showing up when we are still before Him, I am struck with the fact that He is always at work in our lives – most of the time we just don’t see it because we are focusing on the wrong things.

I have a feeling the World Race is going to be much more challenging and difficult than I expect, and at the same time, much more incredible and powerful than I expect.
With that being said, who is willing to ceremoniously throw expectations out the window with me? 🙂
Find the areas of your life – the circumstances, people, ideas, desires, jobs, and relationships, that you need to give up to God! Be still before Him and see the great things He is doing before your eyes!!
