Since the first day of the race I have been reading a Psalm a day. In Psalms David is constantly speaking about the Lord’s faithfulness, about his steadfast love, and about hope. As I have been reading through scripture I see the Lord never does anything without leaving some type of hope for His people. God is faithful and the greatest sign of faithfulness ever shown was Jesus coming to earth as a baby. As we celebrate Christmas I remember the hope the Lord gave us thousands of years ago. God stuck to the plan. Every prophecy was fulfilled. Jesus came to earth, and died. His faithfulness didn’t stop there though.
Deuteronomy 4:9 says,
Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children’s children.”
When you lose sight of what God has done for you, you forget the Lord’s faithfulness and question His goodness.
A close friend of my families past away a couple weeks ago and I could have been angry at the Lord. I could have started questioning all His goodness but just a couple days before I had written all the trials the Lord had gotten me through, and all the things I was thankful for. So, as soon as I found out about my friend I opened my Bible to that list. I remembered the faithfulness of the Lord and I had hope. I had hope that this friend was with the Lord. I also had hope that the Lord was going to get me through the grief.
When truth goes before tragedy, grief can’t overtake you because your hope is in Christ and you know what He’s gotten you through before so what’s to say He won’t do it again. We serve a faithful God and one who is going to get us through every trial we face.
I pray you let the truth of His goodness and faithfulness go before you in trials.
