We make our way on the red dirt roads of Rwanda, up and down hills, down unknown paths following Pastor John to do home visits. As we walk, we begin to bring a lot of attention because of our white skin and soft looking hair, completely unfamiliar to the people around us. Only a few minutes into our walk we’ll here “Amuzungu!! Amuzungu!!” and be taken by storm with the rush of children who come out of no where. They quickly run up to us and wrap their little arms around our legs.
There is this light hearted, unexplainable joy that comes over me whenever i receive a big hug from one of these little ones.

We continue to make our way down the street saying “Maroho” (hello) to those we see, greeted with friendly smiles and waves of hello. As we get to the home that we are visiting, we are again greeted with big smiles and heart warming hugs and every member dressed in their best for our arrival. As Pastor has a little introduction and blessing upon the family, he then introduces us as, “Servant’s of the L-rd”…
I’ve heard him say it a few times before, but for some reason this last time it really struck a nerve in my heart. i asked myself, “i’m a what?”
…A servant of the L-rd.
The best way i can describe this is when you go to a beautifully arranged formal dinner. One of those special dinners you pay for in advance with special guests and honorable mentions. Walking into the beautiful building, expensive lighting, each table set for high class, and everyone around is dressed in their absolute best. As you take your seat there is an eagerness for the honorable mentions that have yet entered the room and all you can wonder to yourself is, “Will i get to meet him/her? Maybe i will be able to shake his/her hand?”
That’s the sort of honor i’m talking about. Walking into these homes and being mentioned as a ‘Servant of the L-rd’ is incredibly humbling and reminds me who i’m working for. The L-rd of glory, the Mighty one of Israel, Creator, G-d.
i don’t think i will ever get used to such a title. Thank you Father for giving me this opportunity to spread your name and see your Kingdom come in all the earth.
Every day i am seeing peoples lives changed before my eyes & men and women set free from addiction and bondage.
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the L-rd of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field. Go!…”
