This week has truly pushed me. It can be summarized by an old Hymn title: “Trust and Obey”.

I encountered the Holy Spirit for sure. I felt His tug on my heart many times this week.

One of the key things that should be mentioned: I switched from E squad to D squad. I was really excited to be going to Bulgaria and India and Mongolia, but I think, deep down, I knew that I was switching. I took my time in making the decision, but it came to a point where, if no one volunteered, we would have our names put in a bowl and selected for us. Even if our names were in a bowl, leaving it up to “chance,” I would still have been selected. God rigs things.

I could see God working in my life this week: my trust in Him; my perseverance; my entitlement to independence. The front end of the week was thick with activity, new names, pushing physical limitations, being cold, learning to share, doing without, learning to sleep in a tent. It was rough. Over the next few days, God was working in the Spirit. We grew together through team-building exercises and communal living.

My favorite moment was one night, around the campfire, after cooking for hours, we all stood and sang out to our God under a canopy of trees and stars that He created. My soul stirred so deeply in this moment: God is so real. Tangible. Present. Caring. Loving.

By the end of the week, we had all become family. God was breaking down the barriers between us. I don’t know what these next few weeks will hold, but I feel so incredibly blessed to be a part of what God is doing.

With that being said, we are launching on June 30th. My new route is Dominican Republic, Haiti, Honduras, Guatamala, Mozambique, Zimbabwe (Yes, Krissy and Eevan, Zim!!), Malawi, Philipenes, Thailand, Myanmar, and Cambodia, Lord willing.
