You
know you’re in the Dominican Republic when…

10. There
are ten times more lottery booths than restaurants around.
9. Local
gangs are made up of wild dogs.
They’re very territorial!
8. Water
& electricity are practically never on at the same time.
7. You’re
not surprised if you’re served beans, rice and mystery meat for every meal.

6. A new
person, each week, tries to get into where the team is staying, posing as a
gardener, water-meter guy, etc.
5. Not
knowing who’s singing, preaching or giving a testimony next at a church service
is normal.
4. Four
hours east (Punta Cana) or four hours west (where we are… San Juan) makes a
world of difference.
3.
Plastic patio chairs are the furniture item of choice. So versatile, so comfortable….indoor or
out.
2. Soup
seasoning brands, Knorr and Maggi, make excellent corner store chains.

1. “The harvest is plentiful, but the
workers are few.” Matt. 9:37.
We have seen such a hunger for purpose and acceptance to
God’s offer of salvation during our two weeks here, it makes us wonder how many
more people in these rural areas of the Dominican Republic just need to hear
the hope that only Christ offers.
