¨It is not in his goals, but in his transitions that man is great.¨
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
We’re here, in San Juan, Dominican Republic…and will be here for another three weeks. The World Race has begun!
Can anyone say “TRANSITION”!?! Seriously though, when is life not full of transitions.
Some transitions are engaged due to our own choice: attending school, finding a job after graduating, getting married, moving, paying bills on your own, joining the World Race and the list goes on. Other transitions are thrust upon us: recovering from surgery, leaving an abusive spouse, evacuating an upcoming hurricane, changing life habits due to an unstable economy, an organization-wide relocation, witnessing a traffic accident and that list goes on as well.
The whole thing about these transitions is that one needs to “choose in” (a phrase used often among A.I.M. staff and now us World Racers) and believe that God has got MY ultimate good in mind, for HIS eternal glory.
I need to choose to make the most of this time in other cultures, experiencing God in a new way, away from the security of “home”, amongst new friends and different food…or else go kicking and screaming and complaining about every little thing. I’ve got to believe that I’m in this place, whether good, bad or just a new place because God has something more in store.
…And this is just the beginning!
