leaving college was hard. i left a floor full of great guys who loved the Lord and entered into the world where real men of God to hold as peers are a rarity. For two consecutive days, i have spent amazing time with 14 men of God who make no compromise. we drafted a mission statement i want you to read. by reading it, you’ll know what the year will entail.
“created in the image of the Triune God to be princes and warriors, we present ourselves as living sacrifices in unity to stand as pillars of love, truth, purity, hope, joy and freedom – through the unity of our fellowship and for all those called to partake in the glorious riches of our savior and king. may he be exalted in all!”
these brothers have cried together, been brutally honest with one another, and trust isn’t something i just delve out. but God in his grace has made it so apparent that i have a new family that will covenant to me, as David’s mighty men did to him, to hold me accountable, protect and defend me, speak truth to me, help refine me, and to love me. brotherhood is good. and it’s missing in the church.
i’ll write more soon. we’ve seen healings this week. we’ve been broken by amazing teaching i’ll write about when i get home. heck, i spoke in tongues this week…this little conservative baptist boy…shoot dang. it’s been an amazing story of laying myself at the foot of the cross for a week+ and finding myself filled with the power and grace of the Spirit. be encouraged as you read that God is real, that he has more power than we could imagine…and that he wants to do a mighty work through us, corporately and individually.
one last word: last night, it was prophecied here at camp that the Lord was sending us out as sheep into wolves. (it’s also been told to me that the highs will be so high – i’ll elaborate more later – and that the lows will be low!) but that prophecy was followed by one strong revelation of truth from the Lord “I’m the Good Shepherd. I’ve never lost a sheep!”
