“I can feel my heart break”
Today is Monday July 21st, 2014. Today we started our second week of English Camp. The kids in our first session were great. Class was going great until I noticed a little girl about 4 or 5 years old limping while walking her little 2 or 3 year old little brother to the bathroom. I asked a teammate to look at her foot when she came back. Sure enough we found a spot on the inside of her foot that did not look good. My heart says we have to do something, she cannot go home like this. I was afraid it was infected and in a worst case scenario this spot could cause her to lose her foot if not treated. She said it was a motorcycle accident. My heart began to shatter. I wanted to cry, yell, and do more to help her. After bringing this to the attention of one of the ministry staff we were able to clean and bandage the spot a little. We were not able to give her antibiotics or treatment she needed. It would have been too painful for her to do anymore. It was obvious God loves this little girl. I wish I had thought sooner to pray. So I ask you now to join us in prayer.
This incredibly tough little girl walks to school with her little brother down gravel roads each day. She has a smile on her face and is so eager to learn English. In the mean time she gets to learn about Jesus and how he loves her. I sat on the floor watching this beautiful little girl hold back tears as we simply bandage her foot. I am assuming her parents cannot afford to take her to the doctor.
Please pray for healing from God and for Him to grant us wisdom on how to help this little girl. Pray and seek God on how you can get involved whether here in the Dominican Republic or in your community. Money donated could help I am sure, but I challenge you to “Go” yourself as Jesus calls us in Matthew 28. You may feel inadequate, but it does not take a doctor to simply bandage a wound or hold a hand and tell someone about Jesus. It may sound simple, but had it been done for this little girl she might not be walking with a limp now and have swelling going up her leg from possible infection.
I present to you a challenge: Dream and pray with me on this! Imagine a motorcycle repair shop that offers affordable repairs in a Christ centered atmosphere. Imagine the opportunities to minister and partner with other ministries, all the while building relationships with the locals. Imagine those proceeds going to help a mobile medical team to travel through these small rural areas to share Christ and provide prayer and basic medical care. This is more than a dream when you partner and get involved! There are endless possibilities how God can use you to make dreams a reality. Ultimately bringing the Kingdom of God. Dream…Dream Big…And know what God said in His word, He is able to do far more than we could ever ask or imagine. To Him be all Glory, Honor, and Praise.
Last Friday a team member led a devotion for the kids on fruits of the spirit and serving others. We are called ourselves to do more than just speak words. We are called to do good works as a result of our faith in love.
In Christ Alone,
Darron
