For those of you wondering how I celebrated my 24th birthday?
Last year…. This year….
I woke up in Edmonton, AB I woke up in Las Lagunas, Dominican Republic
It was -10C It was 28C outside
I was surrounded by family/friends I was surrounded by my family of team Agape
I drove to school in my car I tried to survive on the back of a truck headed into mountains
I went to university classes I hiked 4 hours in the middle of no where
Bought my lunch to school Had a PB&J picnic at a beautiful waterfall
Enjoyed martinis/tapas with friends Shared wine and Oreos with my team
Ate at my choice of restaurant Had boiled eggs, potatoes and avocado for dinner
Was up late celebrating Was in bed by 9:30pm after a long, arduous day
All in all I have to say that my birthday this year was just a little bit out of the ordinary. It was an incredible but challenging day and although I couldn’t spend it with my friends and family in Canada, I was able to spend it with friends on the World Race and family that has taken us in here in the Dominican Republic.
A birthday to remember that’s for sure. And thanks for all the birthday wishes from back home everyone!
