I know this is the second post in a week about finances but that's a big focus of mine right now as I prepare to leave….so bear with me.

On Friday I held my silent auction fundraiser party at Hudsons South Common. Although it snowed the entire few days prior keeping lots of people inside it was a SUCCESS A BIG thanks to those who showed up to support me and specifically Angie, Marion and Darren who helped me set up and tear down the event.

I actually used an organization called Charity Solutions Inc. that provides the auction items for me and just places them under a reserve bid. Unforuntately, this means I do not make all the money that people actually bid but it also means I was able to get some great items I wouldn't have been able to aquire on my own and WITHOUT risk.  I did manage to get about a dozen other donations on my own which helped with the success of my fundraiser since I kept the full bid amount.

Between selling tickets for the event and the actual money from auction items I was able to raise $1000!

That said, I have now reached my December 18th deadline of $6,500. However, with such a big fundraising effort for this trip I move on only to make a new goal for myself. I would like to have another $3,300 by January 10th, making that a total of $10,000 before I leave. Then I would be 2/3 of the way to being fully funded for the World Race. I know it will be a lot more challenging while I am away to get donations for my trip and I can't do any physical fundraising events so the more I can raise before I leave the better. SO if you're feeling generous in the upcoming holiday season or are feeling called to support me financially  you can still do so.
