Hi all!

Well…I would start this blog expressing how PUMPED I am to be going on the January 2012 World Race but I don't think any of the participants could say they aren't extremely looking forwards to it.

So, to get to the point I'll just start by telling you a bit about myself. I'm a 23 year old International Business graduate from the University of Alberta and finished off my degree just this April 😀 I'm a Canadian from Edmonton, Alberta and although I love the country I'm from, I love to travel and see other countries even more. It's a passion that has been growing in me since I first hopped on an airplane at the age of 12. The world God created is just as fascinating and beautiful to me as the people and cultures I want to discover.

Relationships are a hugely important part of my life. My immediate family consists of my dad and sister as my mom passed away in February 2009. My sister is three years younger than me and although we were at each other's throats when we were younger, I am enjoying getting the chance to develop more of a friendship with her. Also, I have been blessed with some amazing friends. Friends who are honest, supportive, fun, loyal and really know exactly how to make me smile. I'm very much a perfectionist and often a serious and focused person but I have an extremely goofy side as well that loves to laugh until tears come to my eyes or I realized I'm giggling about the silliest thing. They say that "simple minds are amused by simple things" but I just think that if you can be amused by the simple things in life you'll be able to have far more fun in the long run!

Aside from travelling I love to sing. I sing with the band at my church and used to take voice lessons. I'd love to learn guitar too so I can play along and sit in solace while I worship the King. I used to play rugby, a sport I adored, but it ended up being sacrificed for my summer travels. More recently I've been enjoying Moksha "hot" yoga which provides me with a great workout and also the chance to get myself and my mind centered on God and not as focused on all the insanity going on around me. I love to look for adventures. I'm usually always up for something outdoors including rock climbing, scuba diving, roller blading and swimming. In fact, in August I will be hiking up Mout Kilimanjaro with my cousin!

As much as I had difficulty in writing this post of describe myself there's lots to learn about me. For those of you actually going on the race I look forward to the opportunity to share myself and my experiences with you. For those who will be following my journey rom home (wherever that may be) I hope this blog helps you learn even more about me throughout the next 18 months.
