Well, this is awkward. Part of me feels like I've been caught and am being forced to explain myself. I probably have to say more about myself than that I have been a World Race blog stalker for the past five years, right?
That being said, my name is Christina and I am currently 22 years old. In January, though, when I start the race I'll be 23! Super old, right?! :]
My family is military so I've moved around a lot my whole life–making the seemingly easy question of "Where are you from?" super hard to answer. Right now I'm from Hawaii, but before that I attended Cairn University (I graduated December 2012!) in Langhorne, PA. I studied Youth Ministry and TESOL and loved it–it was hard leaving the family that I developed there and even still when I think of "home" I think of there.
Man, I have a super hard time writing about myself! I kind of just want to type tons of random facts about myself at you but no one likes verbal vomit.
I grew up in a Christian home and because of my Dad's military assignment (he worked in the Chapel) I was always at the different chapels-military churches. Unfortunately growing up, instead of clinging to God and the body of believers that He presented me with, I became jaded to Christianity. The lives that I saw being lived out were not any better than those of people that didn't follow God and I kind of filtered into this religion of morality clauses–if I kept them, He'd keep me. Fortunately God revealed His grace and mercy and covered me with His love in a difficult situation. He held me gently in His hands and guided me back to Him. I'd love to tell you that that happening was the end to my wandering but I would be lying to you if I said that there were days that I still didn't struggle. Thankfully God knows that about me and has placed little bumpers in my life to guide me back to Him.
I'm sorry, I'm still going to end up giving you some quick facts about me. Eleven to be exact (look at me, starting with the eleven things already! :])
1. I love community! Even though I sometimes feel like an introvert, I love being around people. I love loving on people!
2. I love to sing! Like… I get songs stuck in my head and end up unconsciously singing them aloud. Usually that doesn't happen until I know you better. Just think of it as a gauge of my comfort around you.
3. My favorite color is yellow, but for the longest time I told everyone it was green because that was my big sister's favorite color and I wanted to be just like her.
4. My favorite food is a burrito–thoughhhhhh recently cereal has been becoming a good friend of mine.
5.I love to hike, even if I might beg to be killed halfway down from a hike.
6. Reading makes my heart happy.
7. I cannot like peanut butter. It literally breaks my heart. (BUT, because of my blog stalking I read somewhere that peanut butter is something that is ever present on the World Race, sooooooo I'm glad that I have a God that is excellent at repairing broken hearts.)
8. I exaggerate a lot.
9. I love analogies. It may be nerdy, but I love to think of analogies that refer to or describe God. I have a Bible degree, I'd like to blame it on that. If you want to hear one, just ask! :]
10. I am super shy until I get to know you.
11. I say, "Sorry" a lot. I've had people say that they were going to break me of that… but it hasn't happened yet. Just a warning.
