I’ll just start off by saying that this country is absolutely nutty. I’ve never seen faith like this before. People don’t care what their prior agenda may be because they are too busy worshiping Jesus. It takes forever to do everything because we constantly stop to thank God for everything. Everywhere you look, someone has stopped to praise the Lord and you can’t help but hop on the train.

We spent the majority of our day yesterday at the dedication of a new church our contacts have planted. It is essentially out in the middle of nowhere and plopped in the middle of a place where people don’t have much. Our team was in charge of painting the new sanctuary as well as praying that the Sunday opening service would be overflowing with people. After a very scary car ride through the worlds largest and muddiest potholes, we finally arrived to see the recently beautified church bursting with people. Our manual labor was looking good and our prayers had been answered.

As soon as we opened the door of the car, I could hear people yelling and screaming for their mutual love of our Savior. We sat down on the stage, only to be introduced as ‘white-Africans’ and to sing a jaunty tune about how much we also love Jesus. After several other performances from various community members, the real fun stuff started. Everyone went CRAZY and started dancing, clapping and grinning bigger than I’d ever seen. The Holy Spirit was so obviously raining on all of us and was definitely blowing my mind as to what a typical church service looked like. I never had so much fun praising the Lord and I was so happy to see a place made for worshipping be consecrated in such an awesome way.

After about 6 hours of church, the ribbon was cut and people started jumping around like kangaroos. Everyone kept singing, turning the aisle into something like a Christian soul-train. I have never been to a brand new church before but I am hoping that every opening is that much fun. It’s one thing to open a new business but a completely different thing to open a home for hearts to meet and praise His name. It’s a lot of fun to be around others who love Jesus so much and even better knowing that the building we all stood in was there because He granted our contacts the ability to build it.
