Trujillo, Peru

First, I'd like to thank everyone for all their donations and support! I am now fully funded (for those of you who didn't hear yet)!

Praise The Lord! SO MANY THANKS! If you still feel led to give, all my teammates are still in need of finances except Serah Imperiale, their pictures are on the side of my blog, click on their page and donate 🙂
Super thankful!!

This month my whole squad is serving in Trujillo, Peru. The first thing we were told is that the murder rate for white people is very high! When you take public transportation to go back to our compound, people think that we've got the wrong city, we can't possibly be going there, but we are! AWESOME! Really, it is awesome — hopefully people will begin to grasp how much we love them.

For my mom, aunts, and other people who may be worried — don't! We have an awesome squad that sticks together and I'm serving an awesome God who has already gone before us.

Our first day of ministry was door to door ministry, not shoving Jesus down anyone's throat, for those of you that are use to seeing that. It was one of the most powerful things any person can really do, to love your neighbor — to actually care about what they're going through — to care about those who go unnoticed. We didn't miss a house on that dirt road. One lady needed prayer because her son just got sentenced to jail, another because she's taking care of kids who have no family — she's old and it's hard work, and so on.

God was teaching me a lot as I heard their stories. It's not God that doesn't care about these people, it's people who don't care about these people. Learning a lot this month to not be focused on my needs, but the needs of others. Learning a lot about what it means to love your neighbor as yourself and to pursue people like Jesus does. I have a lot to learn, but it's been an awesome process.

I have so much more to tell you guys! Last week our ministry was construction — the ministry has awesome plans in place for an amazing orphanage, with plenty of options for sports and activities so kids can stay busy and not get involved in gangs — this week we are at a day care — my squad is on a ministry rotation, so it's changing every week. Stay tuned….

All my love.
