Hey everyone!

If you happen to know me, then I’m guessing that you probably know I’m just finishing up grade 12 and getting ready to graduate this June! Right up until about 2 months ago I had already decided what I was going to do after graduation, I was going to go to university like the rest of my class. I had already applied to my top three university choices, was accepted to all three and I thought I had my future all planned out. Turns out it doesn’t matter what my plans were, because that’s NOT what God wanted me to do!

This past November I went on a mission trip to New Orleans, LA with my youth group, and it was a huge eye opener to me. We got the chance to tutor some children at an after school program, have feedings for homeless people, and go out on the streets giving necessities to Hurricane Katrina victims who are completely helpless. I loved every minute of it. I immediately knew that at some point in my life I wanted to go on another mission trip, and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19). So when I heard about the World Race Gap Year, I was hooked.

I immediately began to research what exactly this mission trip was, where the locations are, how much it costs, when the leaving dates are, and as I was reading I became more and more excited! It had suddenly kind of occurred to me that I didn’t necessarily have to go straight to university, that I could take a year off, and see what amazing adventures and blessings God has in store for me! So I sent in my application, and a couple weeks later, got accepted!

On this trip I will be going to three different regions of the world, for three months each. I’ll be going to Guatemala, Malaysia, and Botswana, with about 50 other people that make up my squad. I’m so excited to be getting this amazing opportunity to share God’s love to the people of the world, and to get to know so many amazing new people along the way! Though I’m excited, I’m also kind of scared to be going on this adventure, it’s a big step leaving my tiny community and deciding to travel across the world, so I would greatly appreciate your prayers in the months coming, as I prepare to leave for my trip in September!!

Thanks for all of your support! 🙂
