Bob Goff said, “If we play our cards right, no one will ever know about some of the most loving things we’ve done.”

I wrote this post once about a month ago, but when I hit post it all disappeared and its taken me until now to bring myself to write it again. Not that you would know the difference but I am going to write it a bit differently.

Matthew 6 reads:

“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Really anything and everything I wanna say is covered in the first four verses of Matthew six.

As I typed out Matthew 6, not just copy and paste, I think I realized why my first post didn’t work out. I was writing about how God has been telling me to give more and tell no one, yet I was telling everyone all about it in my blog. And I think there are times that are ok to go do a tell all of what God was teaching you. But God is currently teaching me to give more, whatever that looks like in my life, and to tell no one. And telling all about every detail now is not what He is calling me to do.

Which is hard.

There is a story I would like to share. Of a family I know. And if you read this, I hope it’s ok that i am anonymously mentioning you!

This family has recently decided to go into the ministry field, and has downsized to do so. They’ve changed their lifestyle. All for the glory of God. They have recently supported my brother with a large sum of money for his upcoming trip to Guatemala, and recently donated a large sum to me, on top of a couple other smaller  donations previously. Blew my mind. If you’re not getting how big of a deal this is. Change your perspective. A young couple, with young kids, giving it all up and giving it all away for the Kingdom. For the glory of God.

That is how I want to live my life. Giving away everything I have to glorify God. Scripture is always talking about Jesus telling people to sell their belongings and follow Him, leave all they have and follow Him, I want to be that person. I don’t want to look back and be like the man from mark 10:17, who couldn’t give up his belongings to follow Jesus.

That guy probably regretted that decision forever.

Not me. We get this life to point people to Jesus. After that we get to spend eternity with Him. We get this day. This moment. To give more, and do as Matthew 6 instructs us and keep it strictly between us and God.

SO give more. And tell no one.
