Month 1 is over – Is this really The World Race?

It is true that this month in Albania has been atypical for The World Race. Our entire squad was together, living and doing ministry in the same place, and most of what we did was already organized by our ministry contact. Not to mention the abundance of internet, coffee, and ice cream. So what was the purpose of us coming here? Well, the Lord always has a good purpose smiley.

For me, doing kids ministry has been awesome. I love kids and they love me. Most of the time I’m not really sure why they love me so much. What I’ve learned is that it’s not because I’m smart or talented – they don’t care about that. It’s not because I know fun kid games – I’ve never been the loud camp counselor type. And it’s not because I told them about Jesus – we don't even speak the same language. So here’s my theory: kids just want someone who will listen to them, laugh with them, and go wherever they pull your hand.

So instead of relying on what I can do or say for the rest of the race, I’m going to apply what I’ve learned here in Albania. Inside of every person, young or old, there’s a child who wants someone to hold their hand, listen to them, and just be with them. If I can do that for just a moment, and point them to the One who can satisfy that need forever, my Race will be worth it.

“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’”
