So, I got a weave on Thursday! Yep, I did!
If you don’t know what a weave is… it is where you literally weave pieces of artificial hair into your own hair to alter your natural hair appearance.

When I got to Africa, I knew I wanted a weave. I mean, this is the perfect time in all my life to do whatever to my hair and it not really matter! Hence why I tried out a perm while we were in Thailand (which actually failed miserably and didn’t make my straight hair curly at all, haha).
My hair already looks a little rough without the use of a hairdryer and a regular hair cut to rid of my split ends, so why not try out a new look now?! …a WEAVE! And since I was already going to do something crazy with my hair, why not add colors into my hair that I would never get to wear otherwise?! Aka… pink, blue and green! So that’s what I did.
It took approximately 4 hours to complete.
But sad news… After playing a fun card game of Nertz last night, I asked one of my teammates to check out some irritated bumps I felt on my scalp. It was quite obvious that a rash was forming on my skin. Then I noticed that there were many more bumps all throughout the rest of my scalp and was driving my head crazy.
I WAS ALLERGIC TO MY WEAVE!!!
Haha!
So at 11pm last night, my teammates were amazing friends and helped me take out my weave. With 4 people working on it, it only took 30 minutes to rid of the weave.
I washed my hair 5 times last night (praise the Lord for running water under a faucet!) after we took out the weave and there is still so much oil left in my hair. It’s gross. I think it will take a few days for my hair to be back to normal. At least “normal” for The World Race.
I wonder what my next hairstyle will be? Any ideas to give me?
