Roadblocks strand no chance.
As we were walking to church our last
Sunday morning in the Philippines, we came upon a fence that was planted in the
middle of the road that leads to the church.
To get to church that morning, we had to find our way around this fence. We were very confused about the ordeal and
why in the world someone would do such a thing.
Come to find out, one of the houses near the church was complaining
about the noise of everyone walking past their house… especially with the
basketball tournament going on during the evenings. Therefore, the owner of the land decided to
build a fence in order to prove a point.
He offered to sell the land but it was for an outrageous amount of
money.
The literal roadblock in the way of
us was the enemy’s last attempt to shut our ministry down. But were we going to let that stop the
ministry going on in the church? NO! So what do a bunch of Christians decide to do
to combat that? We build around it! The next morning we literally built a new
road straight up a mountain through some cheaper land that Pastor Al is in the
process of purchasing.
I personally think that this story
is a very good learning story especially for this next year of my life. The enemy is going to try to figuratively
(and probably literally some time again) build roadblocks in my life to try to
stop the ministry that I have set out to do around the world. Trying to build around the roadblock might
seem tiresome and annoying but in the end it is worth it and only makes you a
stronger person and ready to combat the next roadblock.
For me, computer/internet problems have
been small roadblocks in my life that I have let affect me. It has been very frustrating and sadly instead
of trying to “build around it”, I chose not to wallow in it and complain about
it. I could have easily chosen to borrow
someone else’s computer but I didn’t want to ’cause too much trouble’, which
I’m sure would not even be the case. But
that only helped give me an excuse for another roadblock in my life. For me, I have felt like my blogs “aren’t
good enough”. I have been struggling
with writing blogs lately & just decided to use the computer problems as
another good excuse as to why no new blogs have been posted. I know that I owe you, my supporters, blog
updates to let you know how things are & what has been going on in our
ministry. But honestly, I have no idea
what to write about. And even when I do,
I run into random computer problems that make it hard to write out a blog (as
stated above). I want to share stories
with you. I want you to meet all of my
new friends. I want to share my heart
with you. I want my blogs to be
formatted nicely and creatively. I want
to include nice pictures to help tell my stories. I could go on and on and on, but I’ll stop.
I could choose to waddle in my
puddle and ignore the roadblocks, letting satan win his battle. OR I can stand up and build around the
roadblock. I’m sure you can guess what I
am choosing, especially since so many new blogs have been posted today (sorry
for the overwhelming amount, hehe). But
anyways, as you can see, I am not going to let these roadblocks stand in my way
of sharing with you all that God is doing in and around my life! Because I have an awesome God and He is
awesome at helping build around obnoxious roadblocks!
