I think the biggest thing God has taught me during my time here in Chile is The World Race is, in fact, NOT ‘the big adventure’; rather, it is the preparation for ‘the big adventure’.

Santiago has been more like the United States than anywhere else we have been so far, and, with that, comes a similar culture which has given me a brief taste of what it will be like to return to the states.

I realized that the race has simply been a necessary journey to learn how to live life well. I now thoroughly believe the ‘big adventure’ begins when we step foot on home soil.

These past ten, soon to be eleven, months I have lived in destitute poverty, thrived in societies where I can’t understand a single word anyone is saying, and realized just how little I need to live a beautiful life. I had to come out here to learn what it means to really live and to become equipped with the necessary tools to continue to live my life well.

I feel like I am just about to walk across a big stage at a graduation ceremony where instead of a diploma I get an invitation from Jesus saying ‘Come do this great adventure called Life with me!’

I now have perspective I lacked prior to the race, I have a deeper understanding and relationship with God, and my priorities look a bit different.

Returning home is where the ‘big adventure’ really starts. What will I do with what I’ve learned and experienced this year? How will this change how I love people? I don’t have a clear vision for what this looks like beyond saying YES to God and putting that Love into action.

Honestly, sometimes I’m not sure if I’m ready for the next step, but then I remember I don’t have to be. As long as I’m inviting God into the adventure it will be grand.

So, here we go! Start the count down to the real ‘GREAT ADVENTURE’!

I’m not ready for this to end yet, but I am excited to know “Adventure is out there!”
