1.    Cool weather: Rarely when you think of Africa, do you think of sweatpants…but I have been able to sleep in sweatpants most nights with a blanket wrapped around me.

       2.   Translators: For a couple reasons…one being during preaching it gives you built in time to take a breath. Two being that we were able to communicate with people. Cambodia is the other month that we have been with predominantly non-English speakers and we were able to speak to many more people this month because of our wonderful Translators.

       3.  Potatoes: I’m not going to lie and say that I am not getting a little tired of having them for every meal…but they sure do beat eating rice for every meal!

       4.  Walking through the fire: At our debrief in Cambodia, Our squad leader Di talked about being refined in the fire and asked if we were willing to walk through the fire. Our team has walked through the fire in the last couple months and have come out refined and stronger on the other end!

       5.  Bible studies: Christians aren’t supposed to admit that they aren’t a big fan of Bible studies…but I used to not be. I preferred reading on my own. This month my team has been going through Galatians and Ephesians chapter by chapter and I have loved diving into the scripture with them. The scriptures have come more alive to me!

       6.  Fire fall down: It’s a Hillsong song that we have taught the community here. It’s very impacting to hear a 3 year old who doesn’t know any English to sing these words. Thank goodness God can work through and around language barriers.

       7.  Popcorn: Always a favorite snack of mine was easily accessible this month. We bought some that our cook would prepare for us, you could buy it for 100 francs ($.20) down the street and our Rwandan mama prepared it for us as desert when we came to her house.

       8.  Damage: Damage is a friend of ours that we got the opportunity to pray with one night and it was one of the most powerful moments that any of us had experienced so far on the race. Walking back to our house that night Jordan said “I feel pretty confident that Damage is the reason we are in Rwanda.”

       9.  The Shack: No I am not getting any of the proceeds from the book (I know I have already mentioned it in another blog)…I’m just a really big fan! What a beautiful picture that it paints of what the Father, the son and the Holy Spirit look like.

       10. I’m not sure what to specify here, but on one of our last days in Rwanda we went to the Genocide Memorial. I am thankful I don’t understand that kind of hatred. I am thankful that I’ve never experienced anything close to that. I am thankful for getting to see where Rwanda has been…and how far it has come. God really does work good out of tragedy.

We have made it safely to Nairobi, Kenya and will be here until the 3rd!
