One day, squad mate Jacob gave a word of encouragement to a local church in Lodwar.  I was very encouraged by his message and wanted to share some of it with you.
In the new testament, we are given the account of Jesus calling to Peter to come and follow him. (Jesus at that time was walking on the water…)
“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”  “Come,” he said.  Matthew 14:28
You will notice that Jesus did not tell Peter, “come, walk on the water”, he simply said, “Come.”  When I left for the Race I thought I was going to perform all of these miraculous signs and wonders, but I’m finding that isn’t really the case. Just like Jesus called Peter to simply “come”, He tells us the same thing too.  He didn’t call us to do miraculous things (He has given us POWER and AUTHORITY to do those things) He simply calls us to come.  There have been several mornings when I get up I find it hard to “just come”-that it’s all I can do that day to just seek His face.  Jesus wants our hearts.  He wants us to be with Him-to seek Him out.  If we are living in God’s love and grace and pursuing peace first, then the “miraculous signs” should be an outpouring of intimacy with the Lord.  Yes, He gives us power and authority to do those things, but we aren’t bound by that.  This lifts any expectations we might have to live to live up to that.  He simply says “COME.”

“Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”  Matthew 11:28
