A little about me. Well…I grew up in West Virginia and was blessed to be a part of a large, loving family-4 sisters and 1 brother..and me (6 kids in all). My father is a pastor and has been for as long as I can remember. I attended King College in Bristol, Tennessee where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with an honors in Independent Study in Psychology. Upon graduation, I embarked on a mission to not only find my place in life, but also began my search for what God’s will was for me. Upon graduation, I moved to Boston, Massachusetts where I worked at The Carroll Center for the Blind, working as a dorm supervisor at a summer camp for blind/visually impaired teens. It was great fun…I got paid to hang out with cool people, we took the campers horseback riding, sailing every Saturday on the Boston Harbor, Candle pin bowling, water parks…etc, etc. Upon the end of camp, I knew the Lord was leading back to the Tennessee area…so I moved to Bristol, TN where I worked whatever job I could find for about a year or so. Then, a little over a year ago, I began working for a chiropractor in Johnson City, TN where I currently live.
When I was a junior in college, I had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Vienna, Austria…it was then that the Lord began planting in my heart the desire for full time missions. For 3 years I battled with this desire, often suppressing it because I was afraid to face the reality and magnitude of full time missions. It was about a year and a half or so ago that I finally came to terms with the ever growing desire in my heart for missions. It was at this point, I laid it down at the cross, and decided to seriously pursue full time missions. I looked into several options, but it seemed each time the Lord kept closing doors. This was really frustrating as I knew in my heart He had placed this desire in my life, but I just had to keep praying and trust that HIS will and timing are perfect. When I heard about the World Race, (from my best friend Lisa who is who is also going on The World Race in July) I knew immediately this was what the Lord wanted from me! And…here I am! I had originally planned on leaving for the World Race July of 2008 but the Lord kept telling me to wait, so now I am aiming at October of 2008!
And lastly…this blog wouldn’t be ME without some random facts for you to enjoy! I love the outdoors..being in God’s creation, there is nothing more soothing! I absolutely love mountains…they are a part of me (especially the Appalachian mountains of West Virginia and Tennessee) ๐ I love sunsets-especially the ones with storm clouds, chick flicks, good conversation over coffee with friends, COFFEE = YUMMY!, and being spontaneous. ๐ I love laughing over random conversations that really have no meaning or value in life…they are just hilariously fun! Road trips=memories for a lifetime. ๐
