When on the race, you just might….

-get stuck in a monsoon while waiting on a cricket game (India)

-have “We love you, aunties” written in the mud after a discussion of speaking life over one another. (India)

-get to study social with two 6th grade boys and learn more about India in the process music to a Social Studies teachers ears! (India)

-have a contest for how many vans, buses, motos and cars you can touch while riding in an auto rickshaw. (India)

-experience a line of crying children as we all say goodbye, as well as songs written for these goodbyes, handmade cards, and water bottles tailor made for us with pictures of our month! (India)

-feel empowered when you find your way back home using local transportation. (Nepal)

-engage in a water fight with kids that starts with balloons… but why waste balloons when buckets do the trick? (India)

-get stuck in a hailstorm under a tiny awning next to a woman making traditional South Indian baked goods and bartering successfully for a broken umbrella! (Nepal)

-visit a royal palace and ancient city complex and have your picture taken as the lone people who were crazy enough to walk through the square while it was pouring rain with above-mentioned broken umbrella. (Nepal)

-get to experience navigating an Indian river, but in a non-traditional way when streets become rivers and you and your teammates squeeze 5 into a auto rickshaw built for two for an hour drive back home, while looking like the contents of a tropical skittles package! (India)

-get your nose pierced despite the fact that you are starting to get a head cold, and think to ones self I don’t like this thing enough to keep it in if I have to blow my nose too much! (Nepal)

-sleep in a hammock and wake up to a view of the Himalayan foothills (Nepal)

-go to a million dollar wedding where the reception includes 2 bands, food lining the two long walls that stretch as long as a football field, giant screens in three corners to watch the bride and groom, and leather couches to watch the dancers and presentations!

-learn new ways of connecting with the Holy Spirit (favorites thus far: prophetic art and treasure hunting) (Nepal)

-learn that buses are never too full when it comes to local Katmandu transportation. Why limit yourself to ones ability to breathe? If seating is 26, you can easily cram 40ish more on!  

-experience doctors and foreign health systems in two countries… a record I hope to break soon! Thankfully, none of the visits have been due to stomach issues, Praise JESUS!

-get lost in the market streets so full of people that you cannot move, and enjoy every moment while simultaneously wishing you could video the entire experience! (Nepal)

-buy nepali fabric from two different fabric stores while dreaming of ways that you can use the awesome fabrics back home! Coffee table, floor cushions, pillowcases… the opportunities are endless! (Nepal)
