I found out about this incredible journey through my good friend, Hope. I met Hope three years ago living life in a way I wanted to. I was drawn to her maturity of faith and the way I saw Christ in her every action. Just a few weeks after meeting her, I learned she had participated in this thing called the World Race. Not having a clue what it was but intrigued because of my interest in out-of-the-box international opportunities, I immediately went home to look it up. What I saw on the site amazed me: 11 countries, 11 months and a life-changing opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus. SIGN ME UP is what I wanted to say, but doubt charged in and I was convinced that for so many reasons, I couldn’t.  Or was it that I wouldn’t? I’m not real sure, but I know that I was putting limitations on God. Yet in an effort to try and get through to me, He kept bringing up the World Race— again… and again… and again. I couldn’t get away from it!

Obviously, you guys know that I finally listened to God, because I’m here having said YES to Him!

But I simply wanted to encourage you to be a “Hope” kind of friend. She is the person I call when I feel like I don’t know what direction to turn, because she speaks wise counsel into my life; she is an encourager; she is a leader in the way she lives; she seeks Him with all her heart.  Her life shows the truth of Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”  I one day hope that I might be this type of friend and example.

(Hope, if you are reading this know that I love you and can’t thank God enough for putting you into my life. I am so proud to call you a friend, and desire that I can make the most of my race experience just as you have! You have impacted my life in so many ways, and I hope that I can be the same kind of friend to you and reflect Christ to others the way you reflected Him to me. Thank you for being His hands and feet!)
