October- Cambodia!!

Population 15.1 Million, Total Area: 69,900 sq. miles, (222 people per sq. mile)

Languages- Khmer, French, Chinese, Vietnamese, Cham

Religions- Buddhist 93%, Muslim 6%, Christianity 1%.

Weather? Tropical. I’ll be there at the beginning of the ‘cooler months’ with an average temp around 75* not too humid, not really dry, all you need is a light jacket ๐Ÿ˜‰ Also still a mention of monsoon season.

People- Sadly a high rate of orphans, widows, and land-mine victims due to a corrupt past on the governments part.

Cool Places? Angkor Wat an impressive temple from when Cambodia was the center of the Khmer Empire.

From The World Race: Cambodia houses one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Angkor Wat, a Hindu temple and monastery built during the Khmer empire in the 12th century. It later became a Buddhist complex a century later, and today, just over 96% of Cambodia is Buddhist. Almost 30 years ago, 1.5 million Cambodians died at the hands of Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge regime. Today, Cambodia is a source, transit point, and destination of human trafficking. Unfortunately, the government is struggling to stop it. The people of Cambodia are thirsty for the hope you can bring.

Life and Mission in Cambodia:
I first saw this country through the eyes of Brandi Wilcox (BRANDINCAMBODIA.COM) a world racer who left her heart in Cambodia after serving there on her 8th month of the race. She returned back to the states after the race and KNEW God was calling her back to Cambodia to serve long term. So she is. She lives in Phnom Penh, she’s the first long term American Missionary that her new home/ village has ever seen. She leads bible studies with girls in the community twice a week, she is building Churches, she is building a HOME there and is even a ministry contact for World Racers in Cambodia. I pray to meet Brandi in person this October!! Her blogs moved my heart and brought me closer to the Lord and His grand plan for me on the race. She came alive in all of her God given gifts and passions in Cambodia through this  I am continually inspired to GO! Thank You Brandi ๐Ÿ˜‰

Check out the video below that Brandi posted in September. She works alongside Vuthy (voo-tee) in ministry and has committed to serve for the next two years as his Assistant Pastor/Accountant/Youth Pastor/Social Media Queen/Photographer and more ๐Ÿ˜‰ She said, “To be honest I am still not sure what to call myself other than a daughter of the one true King.”
