Loving Arms
Parramos, Guatemala
Our ministry contact this month is Loving Arms. Their website is http://lovingarms.ca. Visit their site to learn more about their heart for Guatemala.
This week our team has painted a mountain village school. It has two teachers for students from ages 5 to 12. We learned that we are helping the teachers tremendously by painting the school. Apparently, the teachers were expected to paint the school during their vacation time. As a teacher myself, I couldn’t imagine using my summer vacation or winter break to paint my classroom and the school.
I was humbled to realize how blessed teachers are in the States to have a custodial staff that works on repairs and paints the classrooms.
This next week our group will divide into smaller groups to serve in a variety of ways. In the mornings, our ministries include crafting/jewelry co-op, English classes and maintenance. In the afternoons, our ministries include English classes, construction and maintenance.
I have been elected to lead the craft and jewelry classes for the team. This means that I will plan a craft for the ladies on Tuesdays and Thursdays then plan a jewelry piece for the ladies to create on Mondays and Wednesdays. The point of these co-ops is for the ladies to be able to create items to sale to make a living and support their families. I am excited to see how the Lord stretches the creativity of the ladies and blesses the work of their hands for their homes.
