My favorite 11 Moments from Month 9

-English class: This month, Tori, Callie and I taught the younger group of kids. We taught English in simple ways and topics (colors, numbers, shapes, animals). These children are bundles of energy but also full of joy. They love practicing their English, but also loved coloring and playing with us.

-Cleaning: This moment connects to my blog, 77 times. The Lord taught me a lot through serving the ministry in cleaning the kitchen and even every little detail of the window bars. I was able to build friendships with my teammates, and humble myself to serve in the least of ways.

-Birds: The craft class was able to make bird ornaments. This idea was inspired from the organization we worked with in South Africa. The birds took a lot of time, but the product is a unique and fun bird.

-Jewelry: Callie and I were able to lead a jewelry class this month. We didn’t have many resources to choose from, but the Lord gave us ideas for the ladies to use to create a variety of types of jewelry.

-Lake day: Our team visited Lake Panajachel, which a lake that is surrounded by three volcanoes. I visited this same lake 2 years ago on a trip with my church in North Carolina. It was a God moment to reflect on where I was two years ago on my spiritual journey to where God has me this year. It was incredible to enjoy the vast beauty of the lake again.

-Leshter: This boy came to the food distribution day. He wanted to color and draw. But then in his generous spirit, he gave me his drawing of a caterpillar with balloons. It reminded me of the sweet notes you receive as a teacher, and how special I find each picture and drawing. The Lord shared love and joy through that simple act of kindness.

-Ziplining: The girls on my team this month decided to zipline over the lake. I had never ziplined outside of church camp activities. I was very nervous, but as I have been encouraged to do this year is to…take a leap of faith, to test God’s faithfulness. I loved watching God show off in the process of ziplining—transforming my heart of nerves to a heart of peace. To be able to embrace the view of His creation from above—to see the entire lake, zoom through the forest, and fly over the trees.

-Paper beads: In jewelry class, we created paper beads with the ladies. The ministry had a variety of paper and magazines to use for the beads which created a beautiful assortment of beads to be used to make bracelets and necklaces. I loved seeing the ladies worked through the whole process—paper to beads to piece of jewelry. Making paper beads reminds me of my walk on the race as well. I was inspired to create paper jewelry as a way to fundraise for the trip, and God just reminded me of His provision with supplying every bit of money I needed for this journey.

-Playing in the rain: This is my favorite picture from this month. Pure joy exudes out of these smiles. Amidst the rain, they found a way to play and have fun.

-Transportation: Riding in the back of pick up trucks all month became a normal. I enjoyed riding in the back of the truck more than in the cab of the truck. It was freeing to feel the wind blow through my hair and experience the beauty of the country in the open air.

-50 ornaments: The craft class was able to make 50 traditional ornaments to be sent to Canada, which will be sold to help support the ministry. I loved working with these ladies—they were always full of joy and zeal for life.

This month was a blast–loved seeing God move in the ministry and continue to transform my heart. Showing me how to serve and love with His capacity.
