A verse, or really, the response of “Here I am Lord, Send me…” has been shaping my life for as long as I remember. I used to sing a song with it when I was a child and I meant it then just like I mean it now. Wherever, whenever to whomever…All I need to hear is for Him to say, “yup come to me and go to them.”
There have been so many times in my life where I had a desire to go to the places around the world where the broken, hurting, orphaned and distraught needed help. Unfortunately, I couldn’t really go because of school, work, loans, or a variety of other reasons. Yet something inside of me thought that if only I had the time, resources, availability, etc. I would be there! Well, Haiti, a place I had the opportunity to go to last year, has been hit hard by an earthquake. Honestly, you and I have nothing to even relate to with how bad it is down there. Desperation grows as supplies are decreasing. One of the major jails broke apart and another 4500 inmates are on the streets…yet it’s actually fairly insignificant because you have a nation of people who are willing to do whatever it takes to survive. AIM has been attempting to solve some of those problems and the brains (and hearts) down here have been storming up ideas about how to resolve some of the needs both short and long term. Part of the process involves sending people who have been to Dominican Republic and Haiti (aka H Squad) to head down there to help facilitate in the process of getting supplies safely to the border of Haiti. The other thing they are doing is bathing areas and people in prayer and will be spending much time in worship. The details are still getting hammered out as we speak but it looks like the first group to go will be some time next week and I may be in it. I’ll have to pay my way down to Santo Domingo but would have some other costs taken care of.
What I’m asking you to do is to pray for discernment, clarity in this process as well as wisdom. Plus whoever goes, regardless if it’s me or not, will need protection. If you want more details, send me an email and I’ll let you know when I know! Thank You.
