Hey I know I haven’t
blogged for a few months now. That doesn’t mean nothing is going on, in fact
TOO MUCH is going on, it’s hard to find a second free to process it in words.
Apparently The World
Race shifted my priorities. I am different. I am filled with more Joy & Insight than I
ever thought possible. I wake up each morning (usually) with Intention. I am
reminded daily that we don’t KNOW people’s stories by simple looking at them. Unless
we seek out opportunities & conversations,
we won’t know that:
in our office lived a whole 22 of 25 year of her life in a Burmese refugee
camp.
– a teenage kid at our
church is struggling with Abuse.
– a drug addict
named Shirley walks barefoot down North 2nd Street claiming ‘nobody
loves’ her
grader with autism just overheard an adult say ‘the less we pay attention to her
the better.’
age siblings have ‘no real friends’
– fellow employees listen to the spirit & pray over customers.
shift at work
Headline News, They are simply a few examples of what MY heart has been exposed
to over the past few weeks. I could go on & on with things I’ve been exposed to living/working/volunteering
in Rockford, Illinois over the past 5 months.
Q: So whose responsibility is it to bring LIGHT to our
World? A: Mine!
A question/phrase I hear often is “What’s the point in traveling
all across the World when there’s people right here that need help?!” My
Answer: I know. For the past 5 months I have been living in suburban America
purposefully surround myself everyday by ‘these people’. Travel is important to
EXPOSE us and take us out of our element so we can be CHALLENGED.
another. Rockford, Illinois has just as many broken, confused, hurting, AND
joyful people as Iquitos, Peru. I want my Life PURPOSE to be to UNDERSTAND
people of our World shift atmospheres for the positive EVERYWHERE I go.
There’s no bias towards foreign countries, America will have a huge portion of my
heart & passion as well!
I love CHANGE. I
love GROWTH. Growth comes from Change.
Ok, so how do I change? After traveling the world, what would push
me outside my ‘Comfort Zone’?
How about… Leading
a 2 Month college age mission’s trip throughout:
The Amazon Jungle, Peru.
That’s right, I will be spending all of Summer 2012 in South America as a Team leader for a
backpacking group traveling throughout villages along the Amazon River. THESE
are the kinds of passions God has put on my heart & THESE are the trips
that are going to bring Change to my character and ultimately MOLD my
Perspective & Heart into the Godly Influence I am meant to have the rest of
my Life.
Long story Short: My life has been completely rocked in the
ast couple years. I will never go back to ‘Normal’. Get Ready Peru.
I don’t NEED your
money. My only desire is that you are on a path seeking God’s Plan for your
