The world fails us. People in our lives fail us. Sometimes our own parents even fail us…

Like most nations, there are many orphans in the country of Mozambique & team ‘Rooted’ has been able to visit a few of them in our neighborhood. We have heard every heartbreaking story imaginable. Some children have parents who have passed. Others have been found abandoned in garbage bags in burning trash piles… The bottom line is that each if these children are living without earthly parents that are capable of caring for them.
I cannot put myself in the shoes of a child without loving parents… no clue what that would feel like.
What I do know is the difference in the feeling of Rejection & the feeling of Love. Those are 2 emotions I CAN relate to.

My team is making it a priority to get to know these children and show them not only that people in this World care for them… but more importantly that there is a Heavenly father who is by their side every step of the way… And He has a purpose for their lives.

We had the privelage of witnessing an adoption the other day. We were playing with the kids, when a woman and her legal ‘entourage’ walked into the home informing us that they had the papers necessary to adopt one of the little boys and they would be leaving with him. It came as a shock to me that this sort of thing was so sudden. The head of the orphanage found out she had to part ways with the 5 year old boy she raised at the same time we did.
In all reality, Mozambique has extremely strict rules with their adoption process. In order to adopt a child here, you must live in the country for at least 2 years to ‘prove that you love them.’ So this adoption was not an overnight process for the woman… She had waited years to be united with her son… Today was just the day it was made official.

We had cake & witnessed the other children say their goodbyes, sing, and pray for their ‘brother’ as he left them to unite with his new family. It absolutely melted my heart in every way you could imagine.

God is fighting for our hearts just as that woman fought to adopt that little boy… These children are a testimony of true love & faith in something greater than anything we know on earth.
