What I’m doing after the Race

I’ve been praying about this a lot, and I started in Vietnam,
month 6. At that point I was opened up to the idea of going back to Adventures in Missions, but I didn’t want to. I never thought I would go back because I’d
have to be support raised. That’s when I wrote the blog Trusting God is Scary (click the title to go to the blog),
but posted it a few months later because I was scared.

In Kenya, I was talking with a good friend and she shared
with me an opportunity Adventures has for alum Racers. I said no, but knew in
my heart the Lord was calling me in that direction. So I began to pray
about and surrender my plans and my heart for what God wanted for me.

Now I am writing a blog about what I’ll be doing and yes, it
will involve raising support and living off of what God wants me to.

The Center for Global Action, CGA, is a program for alum
Racers to continue to live in community, be discipled, and develop
professionally while continuing to be in the movement of sending out
20somethings onto the mission field. I’ll be back in the community that I loved
and left and I’ll be able to continue to develop and learn skills that the Lord
has given me.

I’ll be working in the office in the mornings and going to classes
in the afternoons. When I first heard classes, I immediately was turned off,
but these aren’t like college classes. They’re table talk discussions with my
disciplers and community in the program. We’ll be learning and discussing the
Bible, our calling, our spiritual walks, and more.

Here’s the thing though, I can’t do this alone. I need your
help. God has asked me to follow him in this, so I trust his perfect plan. CGA
is $3,600 and that pays for your living, the program, and everything to live
off of. I’ll be doing CGA for a year, so that’s $100 a month to pay for the
program and $200 for food and other living expenses. However, I would like to
raise $6,000 for the year. I feel like this will be a more suitable living situation.
So, I’m starting to raise funds now. I’ll start CGA in September and I’ll need
the first month’s payment then.
