We had two encounters with the police today, here is one of
them.

Every day except Sundays, Ally and I walk around the track
at a soccer field nearby with a river on one side the main road on the other. Shelley
joined us this morning. We were on round two when a police man came on the
track coming towards us on his motorcycle motioning us to stop.

The view outside my hostel of Gua Musang! God spread his love and joy here, giving us a sign of hsi promiseswith the rainbow.

This was only after
the small bull, who is normally strung up near the river side of the track,
stood up for us each time we walked by. We call him Riolito, Spanish for Little
River. He cheers us on in the morning while we exercise, I can sense it in his
stare. We don’t know whose he is or where he comes from or why he is tied up at
the soccer field by the river, but he is a great cheerleader.

We were told by our ministry contact to carry our passports
with us wherever we go, but I don’t normally do that and on a walk it would be
silly. He also gave us business cards to hand out to anyone who asked us
questions about why we were in Malaysia. Unfortunately, we weren’t carrying
those with us either. So, I was a little worried about what he was going to ask
and what we would say.

 â€œHello, where you
from?
“America.”

“Where America?â€ “The United States of America.”

“Where?â€ “The south.”

 â€œWhere?â€ Wow really… “Georgia.”

“Oh Georgia, okay, you stay here?â€ “Yes.”

“Where?â€ “Just down the road.”

“What you doing here? Umm,
where’s our business card?
“We’re trainers.”

“Oh you music?â€ “Yes, we do.”

“What kind music? Then he makes a motion with his arms
playing the violin.

“No, not that, guitar and piano.”

“Oh, okay. How about… then he makes a motion with his hands
putting them up to his mouth moving them back and forth.

“Harmonica? No, not that, guitar and piano.”

“Oh, okay. And you have Negro…African woman stay with you?

He was referring to one of the other team members from a team who came and stayed for a day or so at the beginning of the month before they left for their ministry, Genlove. – You’re famous here Genlove, you made an impact on the community!

“No, she isn’t here anymore.”

“Oh, okay… What do your parents do?” What? May parents, really? I look at the girls thining how I would even begin to explain what my parents do. Luckily Shelley replies with, “My dad is retired…”

And before she can really finish he says, “Okay and one more question. How is my English?”

After he was satisfied with our, “Oh, so good!” he shooed us away and drove off.

It was quite a humorous event and a great way to start our day!
