Sam and I
went riding bikes around the village. We went down a busy main road to a thrift
store. There were many interesting clothing and other figurines in there. Asian
shirts have the weirdest sayings on them. One in particular had Donald Duck all
bedazzled out on the front. On the back it said, “Donald Duck always wins. When
he doesn’t, he gets mad.

We stopped
at little markets at homes along the ride too. We found eggs, noodles, soy
sauce, healthy oil, tomatoes, fresh thyme, lime and onion. We decided to cook
for the team for dinner!
We stopped
at each little shop to compare prices, then go back home to ask the team if
this would be okay. When we got there and explained everything, the team was
very excited. We have been eating greasy food for lunch and dinner the past few
days, so it would be a nice break.
We went back
out again, this time with a translator. We went to each store, picked up the
goodies, and came back. The bikes we used this time were funny to ride because
the seat was so low; everyone is short here as usual. It was hard to figure out
how your legs should peddle.
Two beautiful little girls we ran into who carry those puppies around like stuffed animals.
We came back
home and started to cook. Sam enjoys cooking; I can do it and don’t mind it, so
I joined in too. We had Courtney come and sit in the kitchen to provide
entertainment. She is an amazing singer and plays the ukulele. She was in the
middle of writing a song, so she practiced it with us, it’s awesome!
We cooked a
mean meal of noodles, lime and soy on top made the dish great. We ate Indian
style on the floor cross legged with silver ware and place mats. The other team
was out teaching, so we had a great time as a team together feeling like our
life was normal for a short hour.
