I love my team.
It’s so cool because only God could put us together. There would be no other way that any of us, team or squad, would have met if it wasn’t for God.
My team, Relentless, is in still in the forming stage of the 5 stages in the group forming process. We are continuing to get to know each other’s personalities and opening up to them. We want to be real and vulnerable with each other.
I got here with a big wall up for my team to see. I didn’t realize it until they pointed it out to me during feedback one night. Not that the wall is bad, but they just want inside.
Feedback is something the Adventures culture does. Each night, my team will get together and do this. We’ll give constructive positive feedback to one another, calling each other into greatness.
Because I have done this several times, I am not afraid to speak what’s on my heart.
But what is neat for me is that I have never experienced and thought of feedback like this before. I have done it several times as a camp counselor, working at Southern Adventures, and Student Conservation Association, but this feedback is totally God centered.
It’s not about pointing out what is wrong with a team member or telling them what they need to do instead. It’s about calling them into greatness, helping them along their journey to become a better person, team member, and Christ follower.
I’ve found when I ask God what he thinks about my team members, He gives me words to give them.
One example is for Grayson. God gives me so many ideas and words for him. One in particular was how his race and experiences were going to affect his family, his home. He needs to blog, be vulnerable and give details. People are going to follow him and are going to become believers.
He completely agreed! And the cool part is, God continued to confirm that the next day. God asked him to call his dad on the phone and encourage him and speak Christ into his life, and he did.
