7 months ago, Andrew on my team, heard the Lord tell him he
was going on The World Race and he would be going to Nepal. He began to tell
him about a house with mountains in the background, one man living there, and a
cow in the back of the house. God wanted Andrew to go to the house and talk to
that man.
Andrew & Samuel’s Dad, the pastor this month.
Coming to Nepal, Andrew shared with us what God asked him to
do a while back. God spoke again to him and gave him another word, a blue door.
We walked to internet once a week here, about 45 minutes
each way. We passed multiple houses, people, and markets. It wasn’t until the 3rd
week here God showed Andrew the house. It had a blue door, a cow in the back,
and mountains in the background.
We had passed the house several times. Andrew battled with
God this month wondering what he was trying to do and why he hadn’t seen the
man or the house. All this time it was right in front of us.
So, our last week Andrew went to the house. We had prayed
with him trying to figure out who should go with him, when he should go, who he
should take. It was just him and Samuel that went.
Andrew didn’t know what he was going to say. He just knew
God asked him to go and he was going. Lies continued to flood into his
thoughts. This is crazy. I don’t have
anything to say to this guy. He won’t be able to understand me. God didn’t
really tell me this.
As soon as they stopped in front of the house and Samuel
said, “I don’t think anyone lives here, a man opened the door. They were
invited in and Andrew opened his mouth. God took over from there.
God wanted this guy to know that he is not forgotten, he is
loved and cared for, and God is proud of him. Andrew explained that he can’t remember
all he said, but he will never forget looking into that man’s eyes. He does remember
that he shared the true gospel and
prayed over the man, who was indeed living alone and had many issues going on
in his life.
Andrew stepped out on a limb, took a risk of making a fool
of himself and obeyed God.
It wasn’t easy for him. It was a struggle for Andrew to
understand the Lord’s timing of finding the house. It took him speaking out
lies the enemy was feeding him. It took boldness to ask Samuel to take him to a
random house on the side of the road. It took faith to believe God would deliver
the words he wanted to speak to this man. It took a man of God who was willing
to be foolish even if it was just for the sake of obeying God.
The thing is it wasn’t just for the sake of obeying what God
asked him to do. If Andrew hadn’t listened and obeyed, where would that man be
today? Would he know that God loves him? Would he understand what the true
gospel is? Maybe, maybe not. That’s not what matters here.
7 months ago, the God of the universe told Andrew that he
would be going to Nepal; he would find a house with a cow in the back and
mountains in the background with a man living by himself. Go talk to him.
