I get this question frequently when I tell people that I am going on the World Race (Gap Year). So without further ado, here is a better and more thorough explaination of what I will be doing for nine months when I leave in October.
The World Race is an 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries, and is set in place by the organization Adventures in Missions. It is for young adults ages 21-35.
The World Race (Gap Year) is what I will be doing and is for young adults aged 18-22. It is also a part of Adventures in Missions. It is a nine minth mission trip to three different countries, so I will spend three months in each country.
In October of this year I will be travelling to Thailand, Malawi, and Guatemala!!! I’m not completely sure what we will be doing, but I do know that we will be partnering with local ministries and serving in any way we can. I may end up working in orphanages, hosting VBS, giving a sermon at a local church, doing door-to-door ministry, or working with former prostitutes. All the while I will be sharing the wonderful news of Jesus Christ to anyone who will listen.
To those of you who are wondering: Yes, I am taking a year off between high school and college. I am working on delaying college applications and such, so please don’t worry about that. I have prayed a LOT about taking a gap year, and I believe that this is what God is calling me to do. As of right now, I will be attending college right after I get back home, but God could always change that… 🙂
In order to go on this amazing trip, I will need your help! I need to raise $13,805. That’s a lot of money, I know; but I also know that God is the great provider. I am excited to see how He provides for this need.
This is how you can help: Stop what you’re doing right now, and pray. Please ask God for direction on how He wants you to partner with me in building His Kingdom. I’ll wait. 🙂
Ok. Now, please be obedient. I know it can be hard sometimes to do what He asks you to do, but He blesses those who give.
Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to. (Deuteronomy 15:10)
