This morning I said a very hard and teary goodbye to my parents then I climbed on a plane in Pittsburgh. I felt sick to my stomach mostly because of thoughts about what I am leaving behind and what is ahead. I arrived in Houston and met up with other World Racers at the gate. Immediately I was comforted by hearing that everyone else has been worried about the same things. The greatest concern that most of us had was about the size of our massive packs. Between my two bags I will be carrying about 70 lbs. My plan is to not worry about the size of my giant purple monster pack and if I find that there are things I don’t need I will leave them as I go.
Adventures in Missions is starting up a site that you can go to in order to find out what our prayer concerns are. The site will list general prayer requests for all Racers and some specific requests too. The site is: prayers.theworldrace.org
Feel free to visit the site and lift us up in prayer often.
Right now I am in Harlingen, Texas at the airport. Pretty soon we will head across the border into Matamoros, Mexico for a week of training.
