Dominican Republic // Month 1 // Week 1
CalI me skeptical.
… and wrong.
I’m walking into a new year and adventure with people by my side, but my team wouldn’t improve or discourage my walk with the Lord or my time on the race.
I am strong enough.
The Lord has given me all I need.
I’m good.
…. again, I WAS WRONG. {there I said it}
Let me tell you how.
This first month we’re serving in the Dominican Republic. Three out of our six teams {there are six teams that make up our squad} are serving in LaJas, with a ministry called H.O.P.E. 4 The DR. {HOPE stands for ‘Helping Others Pursue Eternity} Wednesday Morning we had a meeting to discuss and plan out the next two weeks of ministry. Our Host Kristen gave us three different ministries that we would be working with while we were here:
1.Evangalism + door to door ministry.
2.Children’s Camp {morning & afternoon camp}
3.Women’s Ministry {weekly bible study in town}
My thoughts?
Oh crap…. we’re gonna HAVE to do evangalism. *bad words*
We were encouraged to pray about the direction the Lord was leading us this month in ministry. We circled up and chatted for a second about what we would like to do and why, but quickly went to the Lord in prayer.
…..Lord, lead us to what you want our hands in this month.
…..Lord we all would like to do women’s ministry, but what you want from us we’ll do.
…..Lord lead us in the areas you want growth in this first month, which is mainly evangalism.
…..Lord it seems like we aren’t comfortable to do evangalism, so that’s probably where you want us.
Decision Made.
(#1 Choice): Evangalism (#2 Choice): Ladies Ministry (#3 Choice): Children’s
With pride, I walked back to leadership and told the progression of our prayers and where the Lord felt like He wanted us. We came to the Lord uncomfortable and terrified but so ready to punch out our fear and walk through this next step with bravery.
This is my Team.

Kerri is wise and authentic.
Maddie is confident and joyful.
Abbie is bold and honest.
Jackie is fierce and discerning.
Jourdan is compassionate and humble.
These women possess qualities I want, and can learn from.
These women see areas I am weak in, and speak truth into my potential.
These women want to see every side of me. {EVERY. SINGLE. BIT.}
These women remind me of my identity in Christ.
These women bring honor to the Lord through obedience.
These women are setting the tone for the most life changing year YET.
Just three days into ministry and we’re blown away.
We see the power in numbers and the impact a simple prayer has on a person.
We are leaving homes understanding spiritual warfare, and evidence the Lord wins.
We’ve seen the Holy Spirit work, without speaking the same language.
We see a God that forgives and restores.
We serve a God that cares about every heart, soul, and life.
We experienced a God that worked through us as a team.
This is community.
This is the church.
This is the Lord working through His people, for His people.
6 different states, 6 different stories, 6 different women, serving one powerful God.
As we walk through the next two weeks of ministry, be praying the Lord opens doors we dont want to enter. Pray we confide in His strength to walk us through what we see as impossible. Pray we continue to encourage the uncomfortable with each other, while holding hands through it. Pray we fight for each other to be what the Lord has called us to be. Pray we see the Lord show out.
Just Pray.
Get ready world, we’re comin’ for ya,
Anna
