i traveled to malawi, africa last july. it was my first mission trip and easily the most important thing i’ve done with my life. i remember sitting in an outcasted village of HIV/AIDS widows on a straw mat somebody had woven, looking around at their hardened faces and battered bodies and thinking “this ministry is exactly where God wants me at this exact point in time”. just thinking of his divine plans for my life was so exciting and encouraging and He laid this verse on my heart “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” james 1:27.
after hearing about the world race from my friend kristen (
kristenpaulick.theworldrace.org) i knew it was something i would eventually do in my life. with my apprenticeship ending in august, i feel like the october 2010 race is perfect timing. i am equally terrified and excited about being away from my family and friends and traveling the world – but i KNOW i have to try this!
“All men seek for me,
but all men do not know what they want.
They are seeking because they are dissatisfied
without realizing that I am the object of their quest.
Count it your greatest joy to be the
means by your
Lives, Sufferings, Words and Love
to prove to the questing ones
YOU KNOW that their search
WOULD END
when they saw me”.
