Dear family and friends,

I hope this letter finds you well! In January 2014, I will be serving as a missionary through an organization, Adventures in Missions, in their World Race program, an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries around the world. Through adventure, ministry, and community, World Racers develop broken hearts that propel their hands to act for God’s kingdom around the globe. We will serve in partnership with churches, missionaries, and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children who are trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the restoration and hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.

I am humbled by this opportunity to enjoy the Father while adventuring in His world, and I have every confidence that He will provide for my needs! Ultimately, my prayer is that He will do that through you. This is in accordance to His mysterious and glorious will that the existence of the Church is not for His need, but for His gladness, “For the Lord delights in his people” Psalm 149:4.  Our Jehovah-jireh could very well drop the $16,285 I need on my doorstep, but it pleases Him more to see the Church come together in faith through various ways to accomplish His will.  How beautiful that the pages He is writing in my life are inseparable from the pages He is writing in yours, so that many souls together tell of His love, goodness, and redemption!  This is evident if you try sharing your testimony with anyone, since you can hardly bring up the work of salvation He has done in your life without mentioning the work He has done in others. Similarly, your financial contribution for this yearlong ministry glorifies His name in volumes, echoing through space and time from the testimony of many lives to one.

So boldly I write to ask if you would consider partnering prayerfully and financially with me in this ministry. I must raise $16,285 in order to completely cover my field expenses.  This financial support can be given as a one-time gift or as a monthly donation, wherein you choose the amount as well as the beginning and end date. If 28 people pledge $50 a month for 12 months, I would have 100 percent of the funds necessary for my trip!  I have enclosed a response card (click here), inviting you to share in this ministry. Please make checks payable to Adventures In Missions and return the response card with your donation to Adventures In Missions, PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA, 30353-4470. The response card will provide AIM with the information necessary to send you a receipt for your donation. If you wish to donate online, you may visit my blog site at katherinechen.theworldrace.org and click on the “Support Me” link in the upper left side of the page.

In an effort to share my heart for this calling to missions, I fiercely desire to tell you all the labor God has done my soul since I’ve been a follower of Jesus, but I find it impossible.  How the Father shapes and refines our souls is His divine secret.  All I can say is that He has labored to bring me here.  Upon examining this person I am as a result of His work, there is one thing I know and live to proclaim- the person of Jesus, the Gospel of God.  Oh the taste of freedom, the touch of healing, the sound of praise, the smell of life, and the sight of love I experienced upon believing in Jesus, and how I desire to live and make this Gospel known.  God doesn't need us for His Kingdom come and will be done.  Yet somehow it is the truth that he wants us to pray, to yearn, to serve, and to live every failing breath for these things of glory unto His name.  How glorious that we are small souls wanted by the infinite Creator – "Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him." Mark 3:13

                                                                                                                        In His Love,

                                                                                                                        Katherine Chen
